Altoona Campus Aquatic Classes

Learning to swim can help you stay safe around water. Exercising in water is low-impact way to get and stay physically fit at any age, even if you have mobility issues or injuries. Work on your skills and challenge yourself in one of our fun group exercise classes, or become certified to lifeguard, teach, or SCUBA dive with our convenient and affordable training programs.

Lifeguard Training

BASIC LIFEGUARDING: Includes First Aid and CPR/AED certification training for lifeguards. This certificate enables you to work at most pools.

WATERFRONT LIFEGUARD: Complete the additional “Waterfront” module (3 hrs) for no additional cost. This includes skills training and safety equipment use for open-water situations. This will enable you to work at summer camps, rivers, lakes, multi-sport events, beaches, etc.

This course will qualify you to teach ALL levels of the Altoona Campus Swim School programs for adults and children. You will also be able to teach private lessons, Basic Water Safety & Rescue and Drowning Prevention courses, and the Altoona Campus Adapted Aquatic programs for those with specific needs.   (20hrs)

Take the steps necessary to become a certified SCUBA diver and discover a whole new underwater world.
Participants must bring their own mask, fins, and snorkel to the first class. Use of other equipment is included in the class cost.

“Aquatic High intensity interval Training!” Intervals for 20sec with 10sec rests. 4 minutes per round, 8 rounds per class. Increase your metabolic rate and burn calories for up to 72 hours after class! It’s a “Hiit!”
Take some shallow water, add a drop of toning, a few spoonfuls of balance and stretching, plus a healthy measure of cardio. Stir and top with resistance created at your pace. The perfect “recipe!”
Low impact fun for every activity level. Find unique ways to create resistance using beach-balls, noodles, kickboards, water toys, and dance moves. Themed activities with music to match.
Warm-up and stretching, 15 mins of cardio, 15 mins of strength/conditioning, and a cool-down and stretch to finish. Well-balanced, well-prepared, and well presented—the classic class.

Our Whirlpool is one of the biggest in the area. The normal water temperature is 104 (degrees F). Hours of availability are: Monday – Friday: 5.00am – 9.00pm Saturdays: 7.00am – 12noon Sundays: 9.00am – 6.00pm For health and safety reasons, weekly cleaning and maintenance is required . During this time we will drain and sanitize the entire filter system, refilling and re-opening as soon as possible. Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to users.
