Meet The Altoona Campus Trainers

Robin Sullivan has been with the Altoona Campus since 2006. She comes to the Campus from the University of Northern Iowa where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion with an emphasis in Worksite Health Promotion. Robin is an AFPA Certified Personal Trainer and NETA Certified Group Exercise Instructor. Robin has experience creating exercise programs for corporate employees and has worked for a corporate fitness company in Des Moines. She has an extensive sport and exercise background and a passion for the health and fitness of others. Robin’s goal as a personal trainer is to motivate each individual to live a fit lifestyle by designing training programs that are unique to you, teaching safe and effective exercise techniques, encouraging sound nutrition habits and helping each person to have a positive self image. Working with clients as young as 13 and up to age 80, she has had great success with each of them! With Robin, you'll work as a team to accomplish your goals!
Matt Sillanpaa is a large group personal trainer specializing in functional strength and conditioning. While obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion: Fitness Management at Grand View University, Matt was the lead student assistant coach in the strength and conditioning department. He has worked with hundreds of athletes in six different sports which helped develop his large group training skills. Matt strives to build a strong work ethic and exercise capacity in his clients so they are able to make wellness an everyday priority. Whether you are looking to improve your strength, physique, or just looking to shake up your routine, Matt can help point you in the direction of your goal.
Heidi Lambert is an AFPA certified Personal Trainer and NETA certified Group Exercise instructor with an AS degree in Fitness and Sports Management from DMACC. Through her experience she has worked with several clients striving to improve their quality of life after setbacks. She also has worked with people with specific goals in mind, or clients who want to live a stronger and healthier lifestyle. Heidi continually strives to switch up her workouts so her clients have a lot of variety, she especially likes to concentrate on abdominal work; her workouts usually include a balance of free weights, equipment, and floor work. She thrives on seeing clients do what they thought was not possible and believes it is never too late to begin change.
Pat Smith graduated from DMACC with an AA in Fitness and Sports Management, followed by a personal training certification through AFPA. Pat has gained a lot of experience in the fitness field and has been able to get very creative with the knowledge he has. Pat’s philosophy is that anyone can get the body they want as a side effect to their quest for better health. The goal is to keep that quest interesting and enjoyable throughout the entire process.
Diane White has worked at the Altoona Campus for over 10 years. She has been a personal trainer for the last 2 years. She is certified through American Fitness Professionals and Associates. Diane has worked in many areas at the Campus, but enjoys her position as personal trainer as it gives her a chance to help people learn how to help themselves to a healthier lifestyle. Diane is very family and fitness oriented. In addition to her own running and strength-training, she enjoys and is involved in her family’s pursuits that range from coaching and competitive athletics to personal fitness. Diane helps people build their confidence and overcome any hesitation they have about making exercise a part of their life.
