Campus Aquatic Fitness Programs Campus Aquatic Fitness ProgramsOur aquatic fitness classes are very popular with the members of this community, and have received national recognition, along with our other aquatic programs, from the US Water Fitness Association. Our aquatic fitness classes are considered among the TOP 20 in the country and the best for community health and fitness facilities in the nation. CPR/AED FOR LIFEGUARDS All certified Lifeguards are required to update theiur CPR/AED certificate each year. There are 2 options available. 1. Campus Learn To Swim ProgramsOUR AQUATIC PROGRAMS HAVE RECEIVED NATIONAL AWARDS AS BEING THE BEST IN IOWA, AND AMONG THE TOP 20 IN THE U.S.A. ALTOONA CAMPUS INDOOR LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM Indoor lessons are conducted in 30 minute sessions on Monday & Wednesday evenings for five weeks, between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Our certified aquatics staff will assist parents in determining the appropriate swim lesson level for each child. Payment is due at registration, and registrations are not available via phone. The focus is on technique and repetition in order to develop muscle memory. Efficiency, efficiency, efficiency. We will accept a MAXIMUM OF 6 STUDENTS PER CLASS! If a class has an Instructor Aide in addition to the regular Instructor, then we will use our discretion to make provision for extra students. We will allow more students in the Waterbabies and Aquatots programs because parents are also in the water. Our Instructors and Instructor Aides have earned American Red Cross certifications.

We are doing our very best to offer as much recreational pool time as possible. Please … work with our aquatics staff, and abide by their decisions. POOL RULES Closely watch children and non-swimmers. We request that children under 5yrs. Of age be accompanied by an adult. No running - pushing - rough play. Be aware of water depths before entering - they are clearly marked. T-shirts and Cut-offs are not acceptable attire in the pool. Children wearing flotation aids of any kind may not swim in the deep end unless accompanied by an adult who is in the water. Back dives, or flips of any kind, are not permitted. Do not climb, sit, stand on, or go under, the railings. Dive only in deep water. Food - gum - glass containers - are not to be brought into the pool area. We suggest that you shower before entering the pool. GENERAL GUIDELINES We would prefer that children wear our float belts rather than the inflatable arm bands. Do not sit on, or hang on, the lane lines. Do not stand on, dive, or jump from the inner tubes. Do not continually run up and down the ramp. Swearing, or showing a lack of respect to ANYONE, will not be tolerated. Water guns, water cannons, tennis balls, golf balls, etc., are not allowed in the pool area. You are welcome to bring your own inflatable toys, but you must be responsible for them.
Our aquatics staff will use their discretion and good judgement when allowing any activity or equipment. Ultimately, they are responsible for the safety of all pool users. We want you to be able to enjoy a FUN, SAFE environment. Please help us by being responsible, and abiding by the decisions of our staff members. PLEASE NOTE … Over the Summer , and during vacation times such as Spring Break, we have some children (5yrs. – 12yrs. Of age) who are left at the facility without a parent or other responsible adult being with them. If any children left in this situation create, or are involved in any activities that could be considered intimidating, offensive, or unlawful, Campus staff will take appropriate action. Parents will be contacted, along with authorities when necessary.

WHIRLPOOL USE! Our Whirlpool is one of the biggest in the state, and has been custom fitted with extra jets in order to create a resistance current when required. The normal water temperature is 100 (degrees F). The hours of availability are: Monday to Friday …… 5.00am. - 9.00pm. Saturdays …………..… 7.00am. - 6.00pm. Sundays …………...… 9.00am. - 6.00pm. For health and safety reasons, weekly cleaning and maintenance is required . During this time we will drain and clean the pool and the filter system, refilling it with 84 (degrees F) water. We will re-open the pool as soon as possible, but it will take approximately 3 hours to reach its normal operating temperature. Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to users. BEFORE USING THE WHIRLPOOL … PLEASE READ THE RULES! Children under 16yrs. of age CANNOT USE THE WHIRLPOOL. Persons with a medical condition, including pregnancy, should not use the Whirlpool without first consulting a Physician. After using the Whirlpool, always wait 5 minutes before swimming. The sudden change in body temperature may cause shock. Persons shall not use the Whirlpool immediately following exercise or while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other drugs. Persons shall not use the Whirlpool alone, or without supervision. Anyone having a contagious disease shall not use the Whirlpool. Persons shall not use the Whirlpool longer than 10 minutes. A swim suit or swim trunks are the only acceptable attire. No one shall dive or jump into the Whirlpool. A maximum of 10 users at any one time. Glass prohibited. REMEMBER: The Whirlpool is also a therapy pool. From time to time it is used for that purpose, and may have people using it that would not normally do so.
